Abstract

Principle of insurance funds management covers two interrelated sides. The first side is to provide protection to individuals or institutions through some type of financial product portfolios claims payments which comes from accumulated value of premiums provided by individuals or institutions. The second side is the use of accumulated funds collected premiums as the major source of claims and reserves which can be used as source of financing investment. Analysis of the results of studies and research show that there are other things outside the financial sector which was very influential on performance and portfolio investment. This study aims to investigate more about contribution of management competency, organizational characteristics, and regulation to competitiveness through the investment decisions made by looking at the return of investment, portfolio investment, and product portfolio in the insurance industry in Indonesia. Paradigm models developed in this study based on the model Akinwale and Abiola (2007).
