One of the indicators to measure the financial performance of a bank is seeing profitability. In the span of 2009 and 2013, the profitability of PT. Bank Syariah Mandiri was fluctuative. Between 2011 and 2012, the bank’s profit increased by 0.3, but between 2012 and 2013 it decreased by 0.72. This study aims to analyse the effects of Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR), Non-Performing Financing (NPF), Inflation, and BI (Bank of Indonesia) Rate on the Profitability (ROA) of PT. Bank Syariah Mandiri, both partially and simultaneously. The object of this study is PT. Bank Syariah Mandiri in the period of 2009-2013. This research uses multiple regression analysis to examine the effects of CAR, FDR, NPF, Inflation, and BI Rate on the ROA of PT. Bank Syariah Mandiri. Before conducting the regression test, there was a test called the classic assumption test, which consisted of normality test, multicolinearity test, heteroskedasticity test, and autocorrelation test. From the results of this study, it was determined that, partially, only CAR, FDR, NPF, and Inflation significantly influenced ROA. BI Rate was not a significant influence to ROA. The hypothesis test also showed that, simultaneously, the independent variables significantly influenced the dependent variable (ROA). The independent variable which was the most dominant in influencing profitability (ROA) was the CAR by -4,036, because this negative ratio indicates the failing ability of the bank to maintain its capital funds to overcome risk-weighted assets. Keywords: CAR, FDR, NPF, Inflation, BI-Rates, ROA
