Abstract: Collocation is the way words combine in a language to produce natural-sounding speech and&#xD;
writing. The writer chooses this topic because collocation is a serious problem for most Indonesian&#xD;
students. The aims of this research is to find out the English “noun + verb” collocations, to find out&#xD;
the equivalents of English “noun + verb” collocations in Indonesia, to find out congruent collocations&#xD;
of English – Indonesian: noun + verb, to find out incongruent collocations of English – Indonesian:&#xD;
noun + verb. The source of the data includes Oxford Collocation Dictionary for Students of English.&#xD;
The number of collocations taken as the samples of the data was 1.116 English “noun + verb”&#xD;
collocations. The collocations collected was rendered into Indonesian to find their equivalents. Then,&#xD;
the data was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The result shows that congruent collocations:&#xD;
noun + verb English – Indonesian is more dominant (92.83%), followed by incongruent collocations&#xD;
(7.17%).</description>

Abstract: Humans interaction with other people requires a communication tool in order to understand&#xD;
each other about something, one of which is a sign. So the sign can be interpreted correctly and&#xD;
appropriately, then the every person has its own meaning and interpretation of the course with a&#xD;
variety of reasons behind it. Scientific sign will require the same concept so that there is no&#xD;
misunderstanding. But in fact sign was not always understood correctly and equally among the&#xD;
people. That discusses signs called semiotics (the study of signs). The reason of writer chooses to&#xD;
analyze on advertisement kinds of Pond’s Facial Foam in “Gadis” magazine, because in&#xD;
advertisement they have signs that refers to language and Illustration, and verbal and nonverbal&#xD;
signs are other forms of language and illustration. And the aim of the research is to describe&#xD;
about the relationship between Language and Illustration (image) of the text, and analyze signs&#xD;
of verbal and non-verbal semiotic terms of Advertisement Pond’s Facial Foam in “Gadis”&#xD;
magazine. While method of research is a descriptive qualitative of semiotic analysis, which only&#xD;
describe and analyze data via text or language, images and signs that referred to verbal and non-&#xD;
verbal elements, and then connected to the theory of analytic Charles Sanders Pierce, as it relates&#xD;
to the significance of the semiosis contained in a pragmatic theory of semiotics Pierce. And the&#xD;
result of research are the relationship between language and illustration in advertisement can be&#xD;
related to each other, when the language or words are the main messages, and pictures or&#xD;
illustrations serve to draw attention to explain a concept, or as additional information about the&#xD;
ideas in the text. And then when the picture or illustration is a primary message, language or&#xD;
words contribute to explain the significance of some of the ideas visible, and create an&#xD;
atmosphere for adding information to understand the idea in the context of a picture or&#xD;
illustration. And the verbal and non-verbal signs are another form of language and illustration,&#xD;
and the process of interpretation on the ad called semiosis. Verbal sign is the sign language in the&#xD;
form of words or language that we know.</description>

Abstract: For Indonesian students, learning English is one of the foreign languages that&#xD;
should be learnt in school since kindergarten level until university level. Learning&#xD;
English is quite difficult for the Indonesian students, because it is completely&#xD;
different from Indonesian language being look at from the system of structure,&#xD;
pronunciation and vocabulary. In this research, the writer has chosen this topic&#xD;
“Teaching Names of Animals and Colors in English using Pictures to Nurul&#xD;
Hikmah Kindergarten Students, Bekasi”. The writer wants to know what the&#xD;
problems in teaching names of animals and colors in English using pictures to&#xD;
Nurul Hikmah kindergarten. The aims of this study are to find out the problems,&#xD;
the strength, and the weakness in teaching using animals and colors using pictures&#xD;
in Nurul Hikmah kindergarten Bekasi. The research method, the writer uses&#xD;
qualitative method. The technique of collecting data are making exercise sheets&#xD;
from Pintar Bahasa Inggris book, analyzing the answer sheets and making&#xD;
conclusion. The result of study from the answer sheets, it is found that there are&#xD;
the problems of teaching names of animals and colors is some of the students&#xD;
were always noisy in the class, the weakness of teaching names of animals and&#xD;
colors is time was limited for teacher to teach in the class, the strengths of&#xD;
teaching names of animals and colors is students easier to memorize the names of&#xD;
animals and colors, and the solutions of problems in teaching names of animals&#xD;
and colors is there such thing “tepuk rapi” to make students neat in the class</description>

Abstract: The aim of this study is to find out social problems especially social class &#xD;
pictured within Charles Dickens’s works,  they are: Great Expectations and Oliver &#xD;
Twist. Dickens is one of the best novelists within Victorian Era, while this era is &#xD;
argued as the turning point of British social history. Of course, it influenced the &#xD;
economic, history, politic and especially social structure of British society. &#xD;
By conducting a library research and  descriptive qualitative research &#xD;
method, The writer use sociological approach to analyzed Dickens’ works by &#xD;
exploring and analyzing Great Expectation and Oliver Twist as supporting data.  &#xD;
  The final conclusion of this study has resulted the fact that social class was &#xD;
occurred during Victorian era and it portrayed by Dickens within his novels. The &#xD;
social class disparity pictured within the characters occupation, the way of their &#xD;
dressing, material wealth, obesity, th e authority, and live environments.</description>
