| Abstract: | The aims of the study of this research are: (1). To find out the technique of teaching vocabulary using FAIES method; (2). To find out the technique of teaching vocabulary using Grammar translation method; (3). To know which method is more effective to teach vocabulary. In this research the writer uses a quantitative method. Quantitative method in this research is reporting the result of the test that given by the teacher, after teaching English vocabulary by using FAIES and Grammar translation method. And also the writer did the observation. The writer draw 3 conclusions, they are; (1) In FAIES method the teacher can not give the meaning directly when the students ask about a vocabulary. The students can not ask whole difficult word. They can only ask a few words; (2). In Grammar translation method the teacher can give the meaning of the vocabulary directly. The students can also ask entire word which they do not understand; (3) The result of the t-test is 1,723 . And observation test the result is 2,613. That result shows the observation test (to) is higher than the t-test (tt).Since to is always higher than tt so alternative hypothesis (Hi) is accepted meanwhile zero hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It means that the student’s achievement in learning and memorizing vocabulary using FAIES method is higher than using Grammar translation method. |
