| Abstract: | Motivated by the appeal for smaller and compact antennas, this article gives a comprehensive overview of the chip antenna
technology. Design requirements and proposed design methodology are proposed in this paper. Due to the extremely small space
allocated for a chip antenna, it is susceptible to various performance factors. The slightest change in a design parameter can
significantly affect performance. Factors that affect a chip antennas’ efficiency are also presented. Finally, we will conclude this
paper by describing the two common fabrication technique used to produce chip antennas, i.e. the standard printing method and the
low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) technology. |
